Taylor’s 314ce has earned its reputation as one of the most versatile acoustic guitars around, and this limited-edition 50th Anniversary version takes that familiar formula and gives it a serious upgrade. Condition wise the guitar is in fantastic shape with just a single tiny 1mm impression we can see near the controls as photographed.

The big news here is the torrefied Sitka spruce top. This gives the spruce a beautifully played-in character straight out of the box, bringing extra warmth, openness and responsiveness to the sound. Combined with solid sapele back and sides and Taylor’s V-Class bracing, the result is an incredibly balanced acoustic with plenty of projection, sustain and definition.

The Grand Auditorium body shape is classic Taylor – big enough to deliver a full, authoritative sound, but comfortable enough to play for hours. It’s equally at home with fingerstyle, flatpicking or a heavy strumming hand, and the Venetian cutaway gives you easy access right up the neck.

Of course, this isn’t just a 314ce with a fancy label. Taylor have given the 50th Anniversary model some seriously classy appointments. The shaded edgeburst finish works beautifully with the naturally darker appearance of the torrefied spruce, while the Gemstone Italian acrylic inlays, gold tuners and gold-accented bridge pins add just the right amount of bling. There’s also a firestripe faux-tortoiseshell pickguard and commemorative 50th Anniversary details.

Plugged in, Taylor’s Expression System 2 keeps things simple and natural, making this a genuine versatile gigging guitar rather than something that belongs behind the glass.

Only 1,974 examples were produced worldwide, making this a particularly desirable version of one of Taylor’s most popular models. And, as you’d expect from a guitar of this calibre, it comes supplied with a Taylor Deluxe hardshell case.
