A fantastic example of the ever-popular Gibson Songwriter Deluxe 12-String, this 2012 model delivers the unmistakable shimmer and depth that only a great 12-string can offer whilst retaining the balance and refinement the Songwriter series is known for.
The guitar is in excellent condition throughout and has been well looked after. There are signs of mild playwear here and there as you would expect as well as the usual lacquer shrinkage typical of Gibson Acoustic guitars as they age and “open up”. There are no significant dings, dents or damage to report.
Built in Bozeman, Montana, this example features the desirable ebony fretboard, providing a smooth, glassy feel under the fingers and a touch more immediacy and definition to the note attack, something that works particularly well in a 12-string format where clarity is key. The combination of a Sitka spruce top and rosewood back and sides produces a broad, piano-like low end, complex overtones, and a beautifully chimey top that blooms with every strum.
The square-shouldered body gives this guitar plenty of projection and headroom, making it ideal for big, open chord work, while still maintaining enough articulation for more intricate passages. Whether used for studio layering or live performance, it has that classic 12-string sparkle without becoming overly compressed or muddy.
Playability is excellent for a 12-string, with a comfortable rounded C neck profile that feels familiar without being cumbersome. The ebony board enhances both feel and note separation, helping keep complex playing still defined and musical.
A superb choice for players looking to add a premium 12-string to their lineup—equally suited to recording, songwriting, or adding that unmistakable chorus-like texture to any arrangement.
