Big, unmistakable, and built to do exactly what it’s known for this 2012 Gibson SJ-200 delivers the full, authoritative voice you’d expect from Gibson’s flagship jumbo.

Constructed with a solid Sitka spruce top and paired with flame maple back and sides, it has that immediate low-end presence and wide, piano-like response that sits differently to smaller-bodied acoustics. There’s weight behind every note, but it stays controlled. Clear in the highs, slightly scooped through the mids, and with a strong, defined bass that doesn’t overwhelm. The classic Gibson “bell” like chime.

This particular example is in excellent condition with no visible knocks, dents or dings. Just some minor checking beginning to appear at the lower edge, which is quite normal on these models. It has been played but well cared for so expect some signs of use. Sound wise it really is something to behold, that signature Gibson “bell” like chime is right there. The guitar has had chance to really “open up” in the last 14 years and sounds sublime.

The maple neck with rosewood fingerboard keeps things smooth and consistent underhand, with a comfortable profile thats super easy to play. The action on this example is sublime, really slinky and easy to play. It’s a guitar that responds well to more input but still holds together when played more lightly, dynamic without becoming unpredictable.

Electronics come via a Fishman Aura onboard pickup system, making it as usable on stage as it is acoustically. Plugged in, it retains much of its natural character. Direct, full and balanced.

Visually, it’s everything the SJ-200 should be, moustache bridge, multi-ply binding, and the familiar crown inlays. Bold and timeless, but not overstated.

A proper jumbo in every sense. The SJ200 is built for projection, presence, and players who want an acoustic that fills space without effort.
