Now this is a bit different. The Gibson Les Paul Studio Dark takes everything that makes a Les Paul Studio such a great working guitar and gives it a properly cool, understated makeover. Finished in Olive Drab, with blacked-out hardware and an ebony fingerboard, this thing looks mean without trying too hard. Please note this one was incredibly hard to photograph to get the accurate colour, but if you’ve seen Olive Drab before you’ll know! Condition wise the guitar is mint throughout with no visible marks or dings. It is however used so do expect some incredibly light handling marks from normal use. A genuine Gibson switch poker chip has been added.

Underneath the finish you’ve got the familiar Gibson recipe: a mahogany body with a carved maple cap, mahogany neck with fast-playing SlimTaper profile. The body gets Gibson’s Ultra-Modern weight relief, taking some of the weight out without losing the big, fat Les Paul sound. It’s still got plenty of punch and sustain, but your shoulder will thank you after a couple of hours.

The ebony fingerboard is a particularly nice touch here. It’s bound, has a 12″ radius and 22 medium-jumbo frets, giving the Studio Dark a slick, comfortable feel that’s equally happy with big chords, bends and plenty of gain.

And then there’s the pickup combination. Gibson’s Burstbucker Pro humbuckers deliver the goods, from chunky rhythm sounds to thick, singing lead tones, while the push/pull volume controls give you coil-tapped sounds when you want something a little leaner and brighter. You’ve also got the usual independent volume and tone controls and a three-way toggle, so there’s plenty of room to work with.

Hardware is suitably stealthy too, with blacked-out chrome, an aluminium Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, aluminium Stopbar and Grover tuners with Keystone buttons.

The Olive Drab finish really suits this guitar. It’s military-inspired without looking gimmicky, and combined with the dark hardware and ebony board, gives the classic Les Paul shape a much more contemporary feel.

This is a 2025 Gibson USA Les Paul Studio Dark, originally produced as a limited/exclusive model, and it comes with the Gibson softshell case.

A proper Gibson Les Paul, just with a little less gold and a lot more attitude.
