The latest 2022 Gibson Les Paul Standards are fantastic guitars and this one is no exception! At 8.8lb the guitar sounds very resonant. Nice and lightweight for a standard and in fabulous condition. It could quite easily hang in the shop as new with nothing at all to report on condition aside from the smallest lacquer mark at the side of the headstock (see detail image). With fantastic quality and attention to detail from the Gibson factory the latest ’50s model comes with the slightly chunkier 50’s neck profile and ’50’s pickups for a sound subtly different to that of the ’60s Standard. The burst on this particular guitar is slightly lighter in the centre for a tobacco burst than we usually see from Gibson which is really nice to see. The top looks fantastic too!

The body of this model has zero weight relief, a bonus for Les Paul fans, some who believe the weight relief holes used by Gibson to remove the heft of a solid mahogany body, take with them some of the tone (we can neither confirm or deny this!). The fuller ’50’s neck on this guitar is super comfortable and really easy to play. The ’50’s Burstbucker Pickups sound fantastic and are well rounded, suited to playing Blues, Crunchy Rock, and everything in between.
