Weight: 8.7lbs
Now 21 years old and completely unmodified this early 2000’s Les Paul is in fantastic condition and sounds monstrous thanks to its weight relieved traditional body. Despite some misunderstanding Gibson have used this weight relief on Les Paul Standards since 1983, with the “chambered” (full chambering) and “modern” weight relief starting in 2008 and 2012.
This particular guitar is a fantastic player and has been exceptionally well cared for with nothing significant to speak of, even the headstock hasn’t started checking which is very unusual for these guitars! No significant dings, damage, dents or knocks to report – just ageing associated with very light use, some extremely minor impressions here and there (only visible in harsh and direct light), it was difficult for us to even photograph them. There is a tiny bit of paint missing on the headstock corner (pictured) and the jack mounting plate has been replaced which is very common as they were prone to cracking. A genuine Gibson metal replacement has been installed, aside from this the guitar is original throughout. Please keep in mind the guitar is a 21 year old used guitar.
These guitars are now highly sought after amongst players and collectors alike as the era is re-known for great woods, hand-wired electronics and beautiful maple tops. This particular guitar was shipped without a scratch-plate and has the desirable slim 60’s (non-asymmetric) neck carve. Hand wired electronics feature along with vintage style push in bushing tuners. The guitar features Incredible woods throughout and a beautiful select maple top along with a dark tight grain rosewood board.
Plugged in the guitar sounds excellent and has plenty of grit should you need it with Gibson Burstbuckers as stock standard equipment. This captures the sound of the 50’s slightly underwound PAF, with a bell-like clear sound. A pickup introduced on the Gary Moore model in year 2000 and still in production today.
The original Gibson hardcase with shroud and check card is included. The case locking latch is missing/broken.
