Here we have a fantastic players guitar. This is a 1992 Gibson Les Paul Standard in good condition for its 34 years or so in existence. It was used in a local band for many years but has been well looked after throughout its life on the road.
It has wear to the back and sides of the body, along with some minor dings here and there from use (see images for detail). The guitar is original throughout aside a replaced jack plate, switch tip and strap buttons. If you are after something to play night after night without fear this is the guitar for you!
The guitar really is a joy to play with the super comfy 60s slim taper profile neck and that all important “played in” feel. The guitar has its original frets with plenty of life left, the electronics are completely stock along with its original pickups and hardware. These Les Pauls were not weight relieved and as such has real resonance and warm tone. This particular guitar has seen life on the road and the finish is staring to age gracefully as pictured.
The bridge pickup on this one really is something to behold. So much power and grit, we’ve not heard a Les Paul Standard with that kind of sound from the 498T bridge pickup before. Really great sounding with the Alnico V magnets. The 490R neck pickup is a warmer vintage PAF style pickup, very smooth sounding and covers a lot of ground tonally featuring Alnico II magnets. These early 90’s Les Pauls are fantastic playing guitars and are re-known for being able to cover a lot of ground tonally with impressive finish quality and excellent playability.
