This early 80’s 1981 Les Paul Deluxe has the late 70’s spec one piece mahogany body, the three piece maple neck with volute and a nice medium C shaped neck. The guitar is in excellent shape for a 44 year old guitar with just minor expected playwear, there is the usual natural ageing and patina, odd dings, finish wear and blemishes from being played. There is little to no pitting or tarnishing to the hardware which is nice with just some finish wear to the neck and body as you’d expect from a used guitar of this age.

The guitar blacklights perfectly with no breaks, overspray or repairs. It has some minor buckle rash on the reverse and side of the guitar and dings here and there but it is in very good condition for its age, definitely one of the cleaner more well looked after examples we’ve seen. The guitar plays beautifully across the board with no issues. The guitar has had a re-fret, a replaced switch tip and a replacement nut fitted. Other than this the guitar is completely stock. Please inspect the photos carefully as they are a really good reflection of the condition.

The original tailpiece, nashville bridge, pickups, pots and tuners are intact which is unusual on these guitars. Typically the tuners were changed for replacement units. The guitar is very resonant for the era and really does sound fantastic plugged in. The original Pat No mini humbuckers and pots are present dating to 1979 with its original capacitors. The pots remain smooth and are in perfect working order. The original Gen 1 Chainsaw case is included which is nice to see and still even has its latches!

This one really does have it all and we’ll be sad to see it go. In lovely but played “vintage” condition and unmodified with no breaks or repairs this one shouldn’t hang around long. All the character you’d want from a vintage Les Paul with that signature Deluxe sound!

The spec includes the later Norlin era one piece mahongany body with three piece maple cap, a comfortable medium C profile three piece maple neck and dark tight grain Rosewood board with chrome hardware including the original tuners! The original Gibson patent number mini humbuckers sound beautifully warm with some fantastic tones on offer as you’d expect.
