Gibson Les Paul Deluxe 1976 Tobacco Sunburst. Excellent Vintage Condition 8.5/10.

This mid 70’s two owner 1976 Les Paul Deluxe has the more desirable pancake body, the three piece maple neck with volute and smaller heel profile. In 1976 Gibson shipped 172 Les Paul Deluxes, making it hard to find a ’76 guitar. Even fewer shipped in the more sought after tobacco sunburst. The guitar is in excellent shape for a 48 year old guitar with no excessive wear, there is the usual natural ageing and patina, odd dings and blemishes from being played. There is pitting and tarnishing to the hardware you’d expect and some finish wear to the neck as you’d hope from a used guitar of this age.

The guitar blacklights perfectly with no breaks, overspray or repairs. It has some minor buckle rash on the reverse and side of the guitar which is visible and the odd ding here and there but it is in excellent condition for its age, definitely one of the cleaner well looked after examples we’ve seen. The guitar plays beautifully with no issues on its original frets. The guitar has had its control knobs changed for period replacements, a replaced jack socket and a brass nut fitted, other than this the guitar is completely stock. Please inspect the photos carefully as they are a really good reflection of the condition.

The original tailpiece, nashville bridge, pickups and tuners are intact which is unusual on these guitars as typically the tuners are changed for replacement units. The guitar stays in tune and intonates well and really does sound fantastic plugged in. The original Patent Number mini humbuckers and pots are present dating to Week 10 of 1976 with original ceramic capacitors. The pots remain smooth and do not “crackle” or need replacing. The reflector knobs are quality historically accurate replacements. Sadly the original case is long gone and is provided with a brand new Gator Les Paul specific case to keep your new investment safe.

This one really does have it all and we’ll be sad to see it go. In lovely clean but played “vintage” condition, unmodified, aside the brass nut and a replaced knobs. No breaks or repairs. All the character you’d want from a vintage Les Paul!

The spec includes classic mahogany/maple/mahogany pancake body with maple cap, a comfortable medium profile three piece maple neck and dark tight grain Rosewood board with chrome hardware including the original tuners! The original Gibson patent number mini humbuckers sound beautifully warm with some fantastic tones on offer as you’d expect.
