One of the coolest guitars we’ve had in, with LOTS of mojo! This 1976 Les Paul Custom is super slinky player and is a very full sounding guitar. Just oozing those rock tones.

It has the earlier pancake body, the three piece maple neck with larger volute and larger heel profile for greater stability. It is in good condition for a well used 50 year old guitar with normal wear, dings, patina, blemishes, tarnishing and corrosion to the hardware you’d expect from life on the road. The binding is yellowing nicely as you’d expect given its age. There is some shrinkage to the paint around the neck joint and maple cap, this has been inspected by Brian Eastwood (Luthier) and is stable.

The guitar blacklights perfectly with no modifications, breaks, overspray or repairs. It has some buckle rash on the reverse which is visible and plenty of dings from life on the road in the mid 70s & 80s. All this is purely cosmetic and the guitar plays beautifully with no issues. The frets are in fantastic shape with the guitar being recently setup and fret-dressed by Brian Eastwood. Please inspect the photos carefully as they are a really good reflection of the condition.

The guitar is all original aside from removed pickup covers (included), bone nut, pickguard, strap buttons and replaced reflector (aged) knobs. The original tailpiece, bridge, pickups and tuners are missing some of the gold due to many years of life on the road. The guitar stays in tune and intonates well and really does sound fantastic plugged in. The original “T Top” Patent Number pickups and pots are present dating to the 27th Week of 1976 with original capacitors. The pots remain smooth, do not “crackle” or need replacing. 2 of the pot “shafts” have been repaired with dowel.

This one really does have it all and we’ll be sad to see it go. Beautiful patina from years of playing, unmodified and no breaks or repairs. All the character you’d want from a vintage Les Paul.

The spec includes classic mahogany/maple/mahogany pancake body with maple cap, a comfortable medium profile three piece maple neck and dark ebony board with gold hardware. The original Gibson patent number “T Top” PAFs sound fantastic as you’d expect.
