Here is a 2004 Gibson Historic Collection J-160E dreadnought electro acoustic in near-mint, 100% original condition. The Gibson Acoustic Historic Reissue guitars from this era are not to be confused with the standard specification J160E guitars.

These guitars were exclusively Masterbuilt from the finest tonewoods at the Bozeman, Montana plant and were made in small numbers by Master Luthiers. As indiciated by the “Historic Collection” decal at the back of the headstock and included hangtag. The guitar is in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and all case candy.

The J-160E is perhaps best known for its association with John Lennon, who used one extensively on recordings in The Beatles’ early years, although these guitars sound exceptional in their own right. This iteration of the J-160E platform is faithful to early ’60s spec, crafted by master luthiers at the Gibson acoustic factory in Bozeman, Montana. It features a ladder-braced solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, and the stacked P-90 pickup mounted between the fretboard and sound-hole.

Despite some opinions the Gibson J-160E covers a wide sonic range; both acoustic and electric, retaining excellent clarity and smoothness across the board. The lows are warm and rich, with crisp, presence-laden highs, offering a tone that is perhaps best described as “Beatle-esque.” When plugged in, the signal is midrange-forward and more electric guitar-sounding than a faithful acoustic approximation, delivering pristine cleans and pairing very well with a vintage tube amp. The guitar is super easy to play and sounds fantastic, it really is an outstanding acoustic guitar in their own right.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a C-shaped carve with well-rounded shoulders. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid trapezoid inlays, with medium jumbo frets. These are in factory condition just like the rest of the guitar. The Kluson-style tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with lightly greened keystone buttons.

The rosewood bridge sits flush with the solid spruce top on all edges and is fitted with the 60s spec adjustable bridge. Plastics include a pair of gold reflector knobs and the dark red tortoise pickguard. This guitar is crack-free and exceptionally well-kept. A must for any Beatles fan our those out there that appreciate a full sounding beautifully versatile acoustic.

The original hardshell case and all candy is included.

Guitar will be well packed and sent fully insured. Thanks for viewing!
