Gibson Vintage 1990 tobacco burst Gibson ES 335 Dot Re-Issue. Flame Maple Top & Back.
A beautiful guitar with some lovely light playwear and ageing as you’d expect. Completely original just as it came out of Gibson’s Nashville factory back in 1990. The custom shop didn’t exist back then, but if it did this one would have come out of there with its gorgeous subtle semi-birseye maple top. Condition overall is excellent – no significant knocks, chips, dings or dents, a really well looked after but played example. Obviously this is now a 30+ year old guitar so do expect some honest playwear of its life in service and some superficial marks (study photos carefully, more can be provided on request) only adding to the vintage vibe.
Quite possibly one of the best players we’ve seen for a little while. The guitar is just starting to age, the nickel and lacquer looks absolutely fantastic and has some real mojo to it.
Some lovely subtle vintage ageing all over the plastics with the white binding turning yellow and the metal hardware lightly tarnished as you’d expect on a guitar 30+ years old. The nitrocellulose finish is in remarkable condition with playwear in the usual areas. All gently ageing with nothing too harsh or unexpected at all – genuine vintage and completely standard.
Neck is dead straight truss rod checked and functioning fine, plenty of life left in the original frets with some light fret wear, which still have their nibs. Just re-strung and setup for the new owner.
The guitar plays and sounds great with a comfortable ’59 profile neck. The early ’57 Classic humbuckers sound creamy and fantastic. The factory fitted grovers have taken on a slightly duller patina and are working fine. There have been no modifications, breaks or repairs.
The guitar comes complete with its original tan, pink-lined Gibson HSC still with shroud and certificate. The case is functioning fine, a bit tatty with some nice Patina, the latches have dulled over the years with combi lock still working. The pictures tell the rest of the story.
