Gibson ES 335 Dot Re-Issue 1988 Tobacco Sunburst. Original Bill Lawrence “The Original” pickups. Excellent Condition 9.0/10.

Completely original aside a re-fret, just as it left Gibson’s Nashville factory back in 1989. Build date is August 16th 1989. The condition is excellent for its age all over – no significant knocks, chips, dings or dents, a really well looked after example. Obviously this is now a 30+ year old guitar so do expect some honest playwear and superficial marks only adding to the vintage vibe.

Some lovely subtle vintage ageing all over the plastics with the white binding turning yellow and the nickel hardware tarnished and dulled, just as you’d expect on a 30+ year old guitar. The nitrocellulose finish is in remarkable condition. All gently ageing with nothing too harsh or unexpected at all – genuine vintage and completely standard.

The Neck is dead straight, truss rod checked and functioning fine with plenty of life left in the frets with a recent professional re-fret completed. Just re-strung and setup for the new owner. The neck does have a minor blemish or two (see images), these are not significant and cannot be felt when playing. This is perfectly normal with a used but well cared for example.

The guitar plays and sounds great with a comfortable ’60 profile neck. The original Bill Lawrence humbuckers sound fantastic, really one of the pickup designing greats! The pickup covers have taken on a slightly duller patina with age. There have been no modifications, breaks or repairs to the guitar.

The guitar comes complete with its original Tan Gibson case with Pink Furry Shroud. The Case is functioning fine with some nice Patina, the latches have dulled over the years. The pictures tell the rest of the story.
