Gibson Custom Shop “Inspired By” Warren Haynes Les Paul Standard 1958/59 R8 R9 2012. Excellent Condition 9/10.

The Gibson Warren Haynes Les Paul is part of a limited run of 300 instruments produced by the the Gibson Custom Shop and inspired by Haynes own Number 1 ’58 Les Paul. He is best known for his work as longtime guitarist with the Allman Brothers Band and as founding member of the jam band Gov’t Mule. This one is without doubt a collectible investment in years to come. The guitar is in excellent condition with no dings, dents or damage just some very light playing marks as you would expect and only visible in certain lights. It has been played but well looked after in its 10years in existance.

The Warren Haynes Les Paul takes the traditional Custom Shop approach to a Reissue Les Paul with a few additional features to make the model unique. The Guitar is based on a 1958 Historic Reissue with traditional features include a one piece solid Mahogany body with a carved plain maple top, one piece mahogany neck with a large ’58 profile, rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays.

The Warren Haynes Les Paul has some truly unique features including a CAE SOUND unity-gain buffer pre-amp unit. This circuitry maintains consistent tone when volume is lowered, and helps maintain signal strength through multiple effects. The frets come over the fretboard binding with no nibs and the knob pointers lay flat against the body to avoid snagging. A TonePros locking bridge & tailpiece is used along with a bone nut, ’58 reissue neck profile, and the custom “Haynes Burst” finish (according to Haynes somewhere between Gibson’s Lemon Drop & Iced Tea finishes).

Two Gibson custom wound PAF Burstbucker 1 & 2 pickups sound beautiful with a nice balance of brightness and power. These are wired to the standard historic Gibson control layout with bumblebee capacitors. The finish custom selected by Haynes, sits somewhere between Lemon Drop and Iced Tea, really shows off the contours of the plain top perfectly and is only used on this model.

The guitar is stock, completely unmodified and plays exceptionally well. Chords ring out and single notes sustain. The CAE Buffer does its job without fuss and helps maintain treble when the volume is reduced. The Haynes model sold without a pickguard and this guitar has never had one fitted.
