Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection Les Paul Special Single Cutaway Reissue 2004 Faded Cherry. 9.5/10 Excellent Condition. 7.3lb on our scales.
The eagle-eyed amongst you and those in the know will have already clocked that the serial number has an erroneous 0 at the beginning. When the model was introduced in 1997 it was referred to as a 1960 reissue, an error that they they kept until 2019 after which they changed it to a 1957. This guitar is from 2004 and therefore carries a leading 0 in its serial number.
Beautiful with simplistic charm the Les Paul Special has appealed to generations since its launch in 1957. This particular example is in the more sought after Faded Cherry (only now available in TV Yellow) and is in exceptional condition for an 18year old guitar. These 57′ Specials were part of the Historic Collection back in the 2000s and feature historically accurate tonewoods along with production techniques from the “golden era” all the way up from body contours & neck profiles to hardwear, construction and electronics.
This one is starting to age nicely with no significant signs of wear, dents or damage with just some some neck binding “bleed” and one of the top hats having a shrinking crack as pictured. It has a nice chunky profile to it with a historically accurate 57 profile. It feels really comfy in the hand with a fully bound rosewood board and pearloid dot inlays. In terms of sound is where the special really shines as they are just such versatile guitars. This special has even had time to age and open up tonally. The soapbar P90s really sing when cranked and clean up nicely with the volume rolled off a little. Introduce a bit of dirt and the guitar really shines. From reggae to punk, your covered with this one.
