The Class 5 Les Paul bridges the gap between the historic and modern masterpiece. Looking at its beautiful carved figured maple top and classic Les Paul styling, it’s hard not to be drawn in by its looks, however it is an instrument designed to be played rather than hidden under the bed. The Class 5 doesn’t disappoint. A historically accurate construction with modern playability.

Gibson Custom Shop released a limited run of these Les Paul Class 5 guitars with amazing, highly graded tops with lots of depth in 2014.

The construction method, quality and attention to detail are the same, but with modern specifications and finish. The Class 5 has all the latest and most important features: one piece back, hot hide glue neck joint, long neck tenon, 60’s V2 neck, custom buckers etc…

The body, weight relieved, is made in mahogany, and is matched with a gorgeous subtle & flamey maple top with some gorgeous depth and some mineral deposits, very similar to what you’d expect to find on an original “burst” of the re-known era. The neck profile is a comfortable 60’s V2, very fast and playable.

The pickups are a set of Custom Buckers as you’d expect to find in a historic R9 1959 reissue and have a gorgeous rich and full sound with lots of depth. The bridge is the traditional ABR-1 with stop-bar tailpiece.

An instrument for guitarists looking for the Gibson Custom Shop quality but with a modern feel and vintage looks – rather than harking back to the vintage big neck guitars which are a bit more of an acquired taste.
