Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection ’54 1954 Les Paul Standard Gold top Reissue 2019 VOS in 9/10 Excellent Condition.

The guitar looks, sounds and plays exceptionally well as you’d expect from the very best of the Gibson Custom Shop Historic collection. The latest years are going to be re-known as a good Gibson era when they turned everything around with exceptional quality tonewoods used with exceptional attention to detail. The guitar is really resonant and one of the lightest Les Pauls we’ve ever had.

The guitar weighs in at at 8.2lb on our scales with its double gold plain top looking very true in colour to the originals and will wear and age beautifully over time. Condition wise the guitar is excellent and completely unmodified but has been played. The frets and electronics are perfect, the guitar has been exceptionally well looked after and hardly played in its year or two in existence. There are some some incredibly light marks just below the wraparound bridge. These marks are only visible if light bounced off them and you’re searching for them.

The quartersawn one-piece mahogany neck has the 54 Historic C shaped profile – comfortable, and very manageable in between a 58/59 profile. Sound wise the sustain and resonance is unlike anything we’ve had before, a real slinky player and sounds beautiful plugged in.

The P90s have the harmonic complexity and tonal range that you expect from a guitar produced in Gibson’s golden age, they absolutely sing. They can give a gorgeous bit of grit and snarl as required and clean up nicely with the volume rolled off a little, although never as “clean” as a humbucker. The electronics work perfectly and the guitar sounds absolutely superb.
