What a guitar! One of the nicest naturally aged custom shop examples we’ve had in for a little while.

One of the nicest sounding and playing 1958 Les Paul Historic Reissues we’ve had in recent times. A beautifully authentic plain maple top with plenty of natural checking along with the Washed Cherry Burst VOS finish really sets it off with some stunning looks to the wood and finish in different lights.

Weighing in at 9.0lbs and being nicely balanced this particular R8 has been played and loved by its previous owner. Condition wise we’d describe this as being very good. The guitar has been played but well maintained and looked after. Hence such authentic looking wear, which in our opinion looks awesome! It has just the odd blemish or nick here and there on the back of the guitar which we’ve photographed and priced in accordingly….save yourself a fortune on a “Light Aged” guitar! The guitar as mentioned has been played with some fading on the back of the neck, which is pretty normal on these models. There are no significant dents or damage to the guitar other than the blemishes photographed. The frets are in excellent condition too, a real players guitar!

In terms of the ever improving 58 and 59 reissues, 2017 was a fantastic year. This particular model features historically accurate body contours from a 1958 guitar. Rosewood fretboards were re-introduced with the introduction of all plastics being “Historic”, featuring accurate profiles, colouration and material composition from original parts using chemical analysis and 3D scanning. The VOS finish is very thin and looks as good as we have ever seen from Gibson. All 2017 guitars feature hot hide glue construction, a historically accurate ’58 wet sanded hand finished top and neck neck carve and are fitted with historic parts, with period correct hardware, electronics and hand wound custombucker PAF pickups.

This guitar has a great vintage look and exceptional tone with the semi-dulled nickel hardware finish, gorgeous naturally checked plain maple top and Historic parts. The tone is pure magic and this one can do it all at 9.0lb. It is a particularly rich and full sounding guitar while still retaining its clarity. A guitar you’ll just want to keep picking up!
