Introduced in 1962, the Jaguar was intended to be Fender’s new top of the line model, but with its unique sound, switching options and shorter scale, it would go on to find favour with alternative musicians throughout the following decades.
This 1965 Fender Jaguar is a wonderful instrument, and a fantastic example of a Fender offset from the CBS transitional era, when both the Jaguar and Jazzmaster underwent some cosmetic changes. The main feature of this guitar is of course its colour, finished in the Blonde custom colour finish which was sprayed over Ash body to show off the natural grain of the wood, and is one of the rarer and lesser seen Fender custom colours of this period.
The neck has a comfortable mid ’60s profile and features the neck binding and dot inlay combo that was seen on these guitars throughout 1965, before pearloid block inlays became the norm for Jaguars and Jazzmasters from 1966 onwards.
This guitar is in very good condition and is externally and internally original. It sounds absolutely fantastic plugged in and plays really well. Its original original Blonde finish is showing the kind of play wear you would want and expect to see from a guitar of this age, with some wear to the edges of the body and gorgeous checking throughout.
The electronics are original with no modifications and in perfect working order, with no nasty routes to the body as is often seen on these guitars. The heel of the neck shows a NOV 65 ink stamp. The guitar also includes its original (if slightly tatty) case, tremolo arm and string mute.
Guitar will be well packed and sent fully insured with UPS.
