A seriously cool piece of Fender Custom Shop history, the Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Child Stratocaster Journeyman Relic is a meticulously crafted recreation of the type of Strat that helped define one of the most influential guitar sounds of all time. With everything reversed, but created for the right handed player. This particular example has been carefully played with minimal signs of use aside from the factory Journeyman Relic finish with nothing untoward to speak of.

Finished in a Black nitrocellulose with Journeyman Relic ageing, this guitar has all the attention to detail you’d expect from a Hendrix-inspired Custom Shop instrument. The carefully aged finish, vintage hardware, reverse headstock and period correct pickguard give it an unmistakable late-’60s character, while the modern playability makes it every bit as enjoyable to play as it is to look at.

The heart of the Voodoo Child is its trio of Custom Shop hand-wound left-handed ’69 Strat single-coils, designed to deliver the sounds associated with Hendrix’s legendary Strat tone. The reverse headstock and Hendrix-inspired configuration add another dimension to the tone and response, particularly when bending and playing higher up the neck.

The 1966 Oval “C” maple neck is a particularly comfortable profile, paired with a 9.5″ radius and 21 narrow-tall 6105 frets. It’s a superb combination of vintage feel and modern playability, allowing effortless bends and vibrato without losing the character you’d expect from a vintage-inspired Strat.

Underneath the relic work and Hendrix aesthetics is the impeccable construction you’d expect from the Fender Custom Shop. A two-piece select alder body, nitrocellulose lacquer, bone nut, handwound pickups and period correct hardware complete an instrument that feels as authentic as it sounds.
