The guitar is all original throughout and built using original tooling. The “Time Machine” guitars are re-known amongst Fender Custom Shop fans as being some of the best guitars to leave the custom shop as they are built using original 50’s & 60’s tooling.

The guitar is nice and light at 7.65lb, its resonant Alder body and stunning 60 C shape quartersawn maple neck with dark tight grain slab rosewood fretboard have a lovely feel, with the neck finish just starting to wear a little from play (see images). Our favourite neck profile to leave the of the custom shop!

A thin tastefully reliced Olympic White nitrocellulose finish is ageing nicely and keeps the guitar lightweight, resonant and looking the part with all the usual relic features throughout the guitar.

Tonally the guitar features 3 x handwound 1960 custom shop pickups. Being handwound the pickups add a huge tonal difference as the copper wire is spread more irregularly with an air gap (scattered) onto the bobbin, resulting in less electrical capacitance which results in a more open sound, just like they were made back in the golden era. The guitar really is a joy to play whilst being very resonant with fantastic response and superb performance across the board.

The sale includes the case and all candy in the images including the springs, polishing cloth, ashtray and the supplied fender 5 way switch should you desire to change it to more modern switching. Everything is present including the certificate of authenticity.

Early 1960 saw a major transition of the Strat® from its original 1950s version. New features that year included a rosewood “slab” fingerboard, three-ply “mint green” nitrocellulose pickguard, thinner oval “C” neck profile, and a tall metal spacer on the string guide. Further, it was the last year of the original “spaghetti” headstock decal (“Fender® Stratocaster® with Synchronized Tremolo”) before the addition of patent numbers.

For this recreation, we’ve added several compelling player-centric features for greater tonal options and a heightened playing experience. The Relic lacquer finish on the two-piece alder body imparts the look and feel of guitar that’s been played sparingly for years. The tinted quartersawn maple neck has a 1960-style oval “C” back shape, topped by a rosewood fingerboard with jumbo frets and a modern 9.5” radius for comfortable feel when bending anywhere along the neck. Three hand-wound Texas Special™ pickups are connected to Strat “1/2 Blender” wiring, which creates seven possible tonal options through neck-pickup blending in switch positions 1 and 2. Other features include Custom Shop vintage-style synchronized tremolo, vintage-style tuning machines, wing string tree with tall metal spacer, and a bone nut. Includes deluxe hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
