Fender Custom Shop 1960 Roasted Relic in Aged Vintage White 2019 Heavy Relic. Mint Condition 9.75/10.

Wow – what a guitar! A nice investment and an incredible limited run custom specification to boot. This is one of our dream spec custom shop Strats to pass through the shop. The guitar is in excellent used condition 9.75/10 (obviously excluding the heavy relic finish).

The guitar is all original and unmodified. It features a roasted Alder body and Maple neck with a AAA grade Rosewood board with clay dots. A comfortable 60 Oval C neck profile quartersawn from maple with a AAA grade Rosewood board make for a beautifully playable neck. It’s probably one of the darker Rosewood boards we’ve seen, the grain is lovely and tight.

The guitar is very resonant and has that signature super versatile strat tone as it is spec’d with 3 x handwound Ancho Poblano pickups handwound by Loretta Diaz, re-known as one of the best pickup winders in Fenders Custom Shop. The handwound pickups add a huge tonal difference as the copper wire is spread more irregularly (scattered) onto the bobbin, resulting in less electrical capacitance which results in a more open sound.

The sale includes the case and all candy in the images. Present is the certificate of authenticity and shop floor traveller. The ageing and attention to detail on this one is sublime. This strat is a nice round weight at the 7.9lb mark, with its roasted Alder body and stunning 60 C shape quartersawn maple neck. It has a thin and tastefully reliced Nitro finish with the usual heavy relic features. The more you play the more of the beautiful roasted Alder body you’ll see!

The guitar is very resonant, has fantastic response and superb performance across the board as you’d expect. A real delight to play as you would expect. Save yourself £1500 on a new one!
