Fender Custom Shop 1960 ’60 Reissue Stratocaster Journeyman Relic 2022 Olympic White. 9.9/10 Mint Condition.

A beautiful guitar and an incredible limited run custom specification to boot. This is one of our dream spec custom shop Strats to pass through the shop. The guitar is in mint used condition 9.9/10 (obviously excluding the journeyman relic finish).

The guitar is all original and unmodified as if you’d bought it straight out of the shop! It features an Alder body in vivid Olympic white nitrocellulose, just like some of the real 60 strats without the clear coat. A gorgeous quarter-sawn Maple neck with a AAA grade Rosewood board with clay dots keep it comfortable with a 60 C oval profile and 9.5 radius. With the finish removed from the 1st to 12th fret by the Fender Custom Shop it makes for a beautifully comfortable and playable neck. It’s probably one of the darkest Rosewood boards we’ve seen, the grain is lovely and tight.

The guitar is very resonant and has that signature super versatile strat tone as it is spec’d with 3 x handwound Bone Tone master design pickups from the Fender Custom Shop. These pickups provide plenty of headroom with fewer turns of heavy formvar wire on the bobbin and beveled alnico 2 magnets for that underwound signature sound of the original 60s strats. Handwound pickups add a huge tonal difference as the copper wire is spread more irregularly (scattered) onto the bobbin, resulting in less electrical capacitance which results in a more open sound.

The sale includes the case and all candy in the images. Present is the certificate of authenticity and shop floor traveller. The ageing and attention to detail with the finish is sublime, the checking is really nicely done and the Olympic white always looks incredible on a 60s Strat! The strat is a nice round weight at the 7.9lb mark, with its Alder body and stunning 60 C shape quartersawn maple neck. It has a thin and tastefully reliced Nitro finish with the usual journeyman relic features. The more you play the more of the beautiful guitar you’ll unveil!

The guitar is very resonant, has fantastic response and superb performance across the board as you’d expect. A real delight to play as you would expect. Save yourself £1000 on a new one!
