Early Fender USA built reissues are starting to accrue in value right now. Whilst these aren’t at the same level of investment you would get from an earlier 1982-1984 Fullerton or 80s Corona vintage reissue, they are superior in build quality to the modern “American Vintage” reissues and represent fantastic value for money and quality.

Built in 1994 as part of the USA vintage reissue series, this 1962 vintage specification Stratocaster does it all and delivers that classic strat tone without the price-tag of a Custom Shop guitar. It has the ’62 “C” neck profile and ’62 body contours which are highly accurate to an original! (we checked). It has a beautifully dark rosewood slab fretboard with clay dot inlays. The fiesta red nitrocellulose finish looks much more of an orangey hue from this early 90’s era, whilst it may not be as historically accurate it certainly looks the part. Electronics in this era are hand-wired using cloth wire and the guitar features a set of great sounding 60’s single coils, which are slightly lower wind than you’d find in an American Standard of the same era.

At 30 years old this particular guitar has been played but has been very well looked after. It is in excellent original vintage 9/10 condition with just some light checking here and there as you would expect on the body, but you’d be hard pressed to find another in the same condition from the period. The neck has that lovely 62 rounded C profile with no playwear to the Nitrocellulose lacquer. The neck dates to ’94, as do the Pots.
