Fender Custom Shop ’57 Reissue 1957 Stratocaster Heavy Relic 2009 Dakota Red. Excellent Condition – 9.5/10.

Wow – what a guitar! This is one of the nicest relics we’ve seen pass through the shop in a while, fantastic attention to detail and could easily be mistaken for a real heavily played ’57 with its original finish! The guitar is in excellent used condition 9.5/10 (obviously excluding the heavy relic finish).

The guitar features a custom ordered Dakota Red. Unusually a large custom Oval C Shape neck profile is specified as opposed to the usual V profile on these. Quartersawn from maple with amazing detailing and a true “played in feel” to the finish make for a beautifully playable neck. Its probably one of the nicest relics we’ve seen in a while. Fender got it right that day!

The guitar is very resonant and has that signature super versatile strat tone. The guitar has been upgraded with 3 x Van Zandt Vintage Plus Pickups. These are boutique pickups, hand-wound in a small workshop in Dallas, Texas. Using Alnico V magnets these super versatile pickups and really can do it all. The middle pickup is reverse wound which helps to cancel out unwanted noise whilst also allowing a humbucking option when the switch is in between the middle and neck pickup.

The sale includes the case (with a slightly mis-shapen handle) and all candy shown in the images. Present is the certificate of authenticity and shop floor traveller. The ageing and attention to detail on this one is sublime.

This strat is nice and light at the 7.1lb mark, with its Alder body and stunning large Oval C shape quartersawn maple neck has a lovely and comfortable “played in” feel to it. It has a thin and tastefully reliced Nitro finish with the usual heavy relic features. The more you play the more of the beautiful it’ll look! The guitar is very resonant, has fantastic response and superb performance across the board. A real delight to play as you would expect. Save yourself £1000+ on a new one!
